Marques Houston - Naked CD Cover

Marques Houston-Naked (Universal)

So its should come as no surprise what the former Immature lead singer wants you to do when listening to this album.  So for starters, lets get Naked.  Well, what you do with your clothes from this point on is solely your decision, but if Houston has his way, you’ll be down to nothing before you finish listening to his second solo offering.  That isn’t so bad, is it?  With so much war and violence in this world, a little love and nudity can go a long way.  Okay, in all seriousness, Houston has done a good job of putting together a quite impressive collection of sweet smelling R&B aphrodisiac.

Naked starts off with the mid-tempo plea to a lover that he’s changed “All Because of You.”  Courtesy of the production crew Corner Boyz (Omarion, B2K), “All Because of You” is a bonafide hit single, and puts Houston up there with his cousin Omarion, and dare I say, Usher.  Houston wastes no time getting to the meat of his album with “Sex Wit You.”  Need I say more?  The base heavy ditty is rather humorous, but catchy.  The title track, “Naked” is disappointing -- but who cares because by the time you get to it, you’ll be fully engulfed in the flames of passion.

The album continues with themes of infidelity, marriage and more sex.  Maybe its me, but its seems like someone has been hanging out with R. Kelly a little too much.  But, then again, that’s not such a bad thing considering R. Kelly’s musical track record.  Hopefully Houston has more opportunities for us to get to know the real artist, without him or us getting naked!  (5/05)
