Beverly Hills
Chihuahua 2
The
fact that only one original cast member returned for Disney’s Beverly
Hills Chihuahua 2, should probably tell you something. No Drew
Barrymore, Jamie Lee Curtis, Piper Perabo or Andy Garcia. Nope, just George
Lopez with a whole new cast of actors playing in a movie that will probably
be a huge hit with kids and animal lovers, but a miss with others.
Unlike the 2008 release of Beverly Hills Chihuahua in theaters,
Beverly Hills Chihuahua 2 has gone straight to video. Available on DVD
and Blu-Ray on February 1st, 2011 the sequel opens with a glitzy
Hollywood wedding for two Chihuahuas - Chloe (now voiced by Odette Yustman)
and Papi (George Lopez). The lovebirds – or lovedogs – waste no time
starting a family and when their cute litter of five mischievous puppies
arrives, that’s when a whole lot of trouble begins.
While Rachel (Erin Cahill) and Aunt Viv (Susan Blakely) are away, Sam
(Marcus Coloma) learns that his parents are about to lose their home to the
bank. Trying to figure a way to raise some money, they put the dogs in the
Beverly Hills Dog Show. Coming close, but missing out on the grand prize
money to a snooty French poodle, Sam and his parents think all hope is
gone. But as I’m sure you can guess, even while getting into a lot of hot
water, in the end the dogs wind up saving the day.
Over
the years, Disney has made a fortune out of cute animal movies - hence the
Buddies franchise, G-Force and decades of cute cartoon
animals. Some work, some not so much… But let’s face it, this is what
Disney does best and I am sure there will be more talking animals to come…
Do I hear talking kitties???
Extras for 2 disc combo pack include the film on Blu-Ray and DVD, along with
the Beverly Hills Chihuahua Challenge, an interactive game that Papi
guides you through, Blooper Faux Paws including flubs by humans and animals,
and the music video by Disney star Bridgit Mendler.
