Autour De Lucie-Autour De Lucie (Nettwerk)

One of the cool things about reviewing music is that every once in a while, out of nowhere, comes a band that just blows you away.

I had never heard of this Parisian band before their debut album showed up in my mail, now I can't believe I'd missed them.

Don't be intimidated by the mostly French lyrics (only two songs are in English), this has to be one of the best albums I've heard in quite a while.

Lead singer Valerie Leulliot has the voice of an angel and the fact you often don't know what she's saying only adds to her mystery. The band straddles the line between the Byrds and the Jefferson Airplane with aplomb.

You might have to hunt to find this album, but it's worth it. (1/97)
